square and round dance in eastern ontario

Support from our Volunteers

EOSARDA’s Dance Committee is responsible for planning, organizing and delivering the Association’s annual Regional Dance program. This will usually consist of a series of three or four dances held at various locations around Eastern Ontario throughout the course of a dance year (September through May).

The success of the Regional Dance program depends not only on the attendance of member dancers, but also on the support of volunteers willing to help with the various tasks associated with putting on a dance. These tasks will vary somewhat from dance to dance, but in general, volunteers will be asked to help with tasks such as those shown in the info bar on the right.

Several weeks prior to the date of each Regional Dance, an electronic Bulletin will be issued by Dance Committee, seeking volunteers to help with the dance. Member Clubs often offer to act collectively as the Service Club for a particular dance. But such offers of service have become increasingly less frequent in recent years. In their place, Dance Committee has increasingly relied on volunteers from a number of different clubs stepping forward to form an ad hoc Service Team.

In either case, volunteers are the life blood of a dance. Dance Committee usually consists of only a few people. There is no way that they could put on a dance without help from the larger dancing community.
